  • How do I become a member of the Britain Burma Society?
  • Thank you for expressing interest in the Britain Burma Society! Annual membership is £20 for single members or £25 for joint membership.New members can join the society by visiting the membership page and completing the online form. Payment can be completed online for instant access to the members area.If you don’t wish to pay online, payment can be sent to Keith Win, Honorary Treasurer

  • How secure is your online payment process?
  • Payment is 100% secure, and no card details are saved on our website. All card processing takes place via our credit/debit card provider Stripe or PayPal.Your personal details are never shared with any other third parties.All address details are not publically available.
  • How do I access the members area?
  • For privacy and security reasons, passwords from the existing society website have not been transferred to the new Britain-Burma Society website.If you have an online account with us already, when visiting the website for the very first time, you will need to create a new password.To do this:
    • Click on Login on the website navigation / menu.
    • Click on Forgot Password
    • Enter your email address and click Request Password Reset

    You should receive an email with details on resetting your password!

  • I can’t login to the members area
  • If you are having issues with logging into the members area, click on forgot password to reset your password.If you still are unable to access the members area, there might be an issue with your account. Please contact Membership Secretary Barbara Brown for help.
  • How do I renew my membership?
  • To renew your membership online:
    • Login to your account
    • Click on My Account after you have logged in
    • Click on Subscriptions and click Renew
    • From here, complete the online form and enter your payment details.

  • In accordance with GDPR and terms of membership, we will honour any request to remove your details from our website in a timely manner.Please contact Membership Secretary Barbara Brown if you have any concerns with your membership.
  • When do Britain Burma Society meetings take place?
  • Meetings take place six times a year at the Medical Society of London, at Lettsom House, 11 Chandos Street, Cavendish Square, London W1G 9EB (https://medsoclondon.org) for members and their guests.These are a celebration of Britain’s relationship with Burma, featuring lectures, slides and reports from recent visitors to Burma. Light refreshments are served, too.
  • How much does it cost to attend a society meeting?
  • Members pay £10 (£5.00 for students with current Student ID card) per meeting at the door, or preferably in advance by bank transfer or cheque.
  • What happens to the existing Shwepla website?
  • The shwepla.net website will be available as an archive of Britain Burma Society activity.Certain lectures and articles will be transferred over to the new society website over time, however.
  • How do I contact other members?
  • Due to privacy and security regulations, we will no longer allow members to contact each other via the website.Please do not share any personal details on the website.Members can share lost relatives requests, discuss travel and events in the members-only forums.
